About me:
Hi, I’m Regan! I can’t wait to help you reclaim the expression living in your bones.
I grew up thinking I’d missed my window to dance. I have no formal training, and actually grew up as a competitive powerlifter and CrossFit athlete.Â
But at 18, I decided to teach myself. Because I could feel in my bones that I was meant to dance.Â
What started as an experiment turned into a decade-long journey... performing around the world as a professional artist, but more importantly, using movement and embodied storytelling as the backbone of my own healing.
Now, I help others do the same.
Because I believe everyone, no matter their background or training, deserves to feel the power of their own expression, and to remember the wisdom their body has always held.
the Empowerment Method:
A new (ancient)
approach to dancing
When I started to learn how to dance, I was so frustrated by the lack of resources available in the middle ground of dance.
Ecstatic dances were fun for a while, but didn't have any structure to help me improve my dancing.
Dance classes were so focused on structure (choreography and technique), that I often left in frustrated tears.
The Empowerment Method is what grew from years of exploration in the space in between the extremes.Â
It blends philosophies from Ritual Theater, nervous system attunement and trauma healing, dance and movement therapy styles, and improv games...
to create a structure that guides you into discovering and developing your own movement, without being told how to move.Â
It's everything I wished I had when I was first learning to dance.Â
Â
Here are the cornerstones of this work:Â
Expression
In this form of dancing, all movement stems from the wisdom of your body. Emotions are celebrated and clarified, sensations are heightened, and your inner landscape becomes the material that informs your dance.
Play
The quickest way to learn something new is through play. The value of taking silliness seriously lives in the way it creates a safety to become fearlessly authentic, and encourages the risks that become creative genius.
Growth
Here, skill and healing go hand in hand. We work on developing your movement vocabulary and unique personal style. That way, you have the words to tell the stories you need to tell with clarity, and can learn to tell new stories that serve you better.
Here’s a Peek Into My Personal Work:
From performances on stage to the raw behind-the-scenes of my daily practice... this is the full spectrum.
Silly and sacred.
Profane and precise.
Deeply healing, skillful, story-rich, and sometimes, just for the giggles.
My Personal Practice
Before anything ever makes it to the stage, my practice is for ME. Here's a peek into what my practice looks like. A full spectrum experience that prioritizes skills, growth, AND embodied healing.Â
